AIFD Offers CEUs for Symposium DVDs
Up to 20 CEUs Available Every Three Years

While it is certainly the desire of AIFD that each of its members attend at least one National Symposium every three years, it is also recognized that for a variety of reasons this is sometimes not feasible. With this in mind, beginning with the 2007 National Symposium, AIFD Accredited Members may now earn ten (10) Continuing Education Units by purchasing a full set of Symposium DVDs and then successfully completing a 10-question quiz based on the information presented by Symposium stage designers.

“What an easy way for AIFD members to earn their required continuing education,” said Tom Simmons AIFD, president of the Institute. “It is our desire to help members achieve the 25 CEUs they need every three years through this exciting new opportunity. Of course, we would prefer that they experience the excitement and spirit-lifting phenomenon first-hand; but we know this is not always possible.”

AIFD’s Education Committee, under the direction of Joyce Mason-Monheim AIFD of Phoenix, Ariz., is developing a series of quiz questions that will be forwarded electronically to any member who purchases the Symposium DVDs and then requests the quiz. The member must return his or her completed quiz and receive a grade of 70% or higher to be awarded the 10 CEUs.

AIFD’s continuing education requirement was put into place five years ago as a means of demonstrating Accredited Members’ support for the Institute’s mission to advance the art of professional floral design and floral design education. “We want to encourage all AIFD members to stay current on design trend sand techniques, as well as to motivate them to participate in various leadership opportunities within our beautiful floral industry,” said Simmons.

AIFD will, however, limit the total CEUs a member can achieve via the DVD programs during his or her 3-year reporting cycle to twenty (20). There are numerous other easy ways in which members can accumulate the other needed five CEUs including attending local or state floral organization shows or participating in local floral organizations.
