From Your President...
Fellow members of the Southwest Regional Chapter of AIFD...
First, Please let me state how humble to be the representative/president of such a wonderfully talented region of the United States. I am in awe of the many fabulous floral designers, floral educators, generous wholesalers (both fresh and hard goods), hard working growers, worthy wire service providers and many other state and local organizations associated with the floral industry. Without their heartfelt dedication, we would not be the region we are today.
Our Southwest Region officers, board of directors, committee chairpersons, committee assistants and so on are probably some of the hardest working individuals that I've ever seen on one board. I've been on several great boards in the past of different floral organizations, but this collective gathering of hardworking, dedicated, educated, loyal, enthusiastic, ethical and just wonderful friends are what make this board, at least to me, the best. That's not to say that the past boards have not been great. They too, have given their time, talents, creativity and dedication to this region, and we applaud their accomplishments.
As for our new regional board, I can't wait to get started with our 2010-2011 Southwest AIFD year. We have some new changes in store, along with some phenomenal floral programs in the works. Our SW AIFD team is comprised of many great leaders that are already present in our region as well as past presidents from the SW AIFD region and even some past national presidents of AIFD. Not many regions can say that. Their knowledge, wisdom, past experiences along with the rest of our energetic, enthusiastic and talented board, will make for a successful regional team.
Please remember, we're always looking for new ways to do things; new ideas for events, possible new board members, the means of getting the AIFD name out into the community and letting everyone know that we're a professional organization that works within a code of ethics, committed to furthering the education of students and florists alike and welcome the challenges and possible potential that 2010-2011 term brings with it.
The SW AIFD region is a team! We're all volunteers trying to make a difference in our city, our community, our state and the floral industry itself. None of this could be accomplished without the unselfish and dedicated acts of our regional members, officers and board of directors and the gracious assistance of our national AIFD officers, board of directors and the AIFD Foundation.
Looking forward to an exciting and productive 2010-2011 experience!!
Sincerely,
Michael Quesada AIFD
