Fitz Design Contest

Back again this year, the Fitz Design Contest will be held at Symposium. It’s easy, it’s fun, and you can win a FREE General registration to AIFD’s 2014 National Symposium “Transition Transformation” in Chicago, July 3-7, 2014. A prize will be awarded in both the mens and ladies floral adornment categories. Here are some of the rules you need to know:
•  All personal body flowers need to feature at least one Fitz Design item. Other accessories may be incorporated to accent and complete the entry.
•    Your floral creation can be made earlier and brought with you to Symposium to be finished on-site or created from scratch in Las Vegas.
•    All entries must be photographed by the AIFD designated photographer prior to the Leadership Gala Dinner. Our photographer will be located outside the Champagne Room from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Only officially photographed entries will be accepted in the contest.
•    Fitz Design items are available at the Body Bar Buffet which opens on Monday, July 1 at 2 p.m. in the Rivoli A area where your contributions help support AIFD’s numerous student chapters.
•    You will need to complete an entry form and present it to the AIFD staff member when having your picture taken.

Travel Info – How To Get There

Getting to the Paris Las Vegas Hotel is easy. If flying (book your flights now to avoid July 4th holiday traffic), a cab is the best way ($15-$20). You can also take a shuttle for only $7 one-way (Connect: Terminal 1 – Door 8, Terminal 3 – Door 1 & 2 or Southwest – Baggage Claim). Want to Volunteer?

Symposium is a major event that would be impossible to stage without the help of hundreds of volunteers. For many attendees, the time spent working as a volunteer is one of the most rewarding parts of their Symposium experience. If you’d like to volunteer, we’d love to have you. You do, however, need to be registered as a Premium or General attendee of Symposium in order to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Beverley Ireland AIFD, CFD at 619-588-2377 or bev@jasminecreek.sdcoxmail.com.

Symposium Attire

“Passion” will present to you the hottest ideas in floral design, but Passion also means it’s hot in Las Vegas in July, so dress appropriately. Remember, too, that the hotel and convention center are air conditioned. Proper attire for most Symposium programs is “comfortable business casual.” There are several events, however, where other clothing is more appropriate. Suggested attire for the Awards/Induction Dinner (June 30th) is cocktail dress and coat & tie. Suggested attire for the elegant Leadership Gala (July 2nd) is black tie, evening gown, and floral masks.

Thank you for an incredible symposium!  Being my first one, I was so impressed not only by the programs but also by the professionalism of the association. All I can say about the AIFD symposium was WOW! I met so many incredible people.  Everyone is so friendly, caring and helpful. I am so inspired that I will continue taking courses! Thank you again to all for all the hard work to make me feel inspired and special.
