Symposium 2022 | “Roots” | Las Vegas, NV

Engage, Enlighten, Educate

Focus on the Future – Bringing FFA to the AIFD Symposium

We are introducing you to an amazing opportunity that provides a chance to experience The American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD®) National Symposium – Roots 2022. This is a program to develop and “engage, enlighten and educate” the FFA Floriculture Student Members and FFA Instructors by experiencing the 2022 AIFD® Symposium in Las Vegas.

This scholarship offers FFA Student Members and Instructors the opportunity to experience and learn from world-class floral designers. During their time at Symposium they will witness outstanding floral design programs, network with the floral industry’s leading Industry Partners, visit with AIFD® Education Partners, and participate in practical education with hands on classes and take part in the AIFD® Awards and Induction Night Dinner.  All together this experience will allow them to gain knowledge from both design and business classes and expose them to the educational value and tradition of AIFD®.

FFA leadership together with the current AIFD® leadership will work together to select the FFA student member teams who will participate in this experience. These FFA members will have demonstrated an interest in continuing a career in Floriculture or respective careers, who have registered and participated in the FFA National Teacher Workshop and have shown leadership in their FFA region and chapters. Instructors attending and participating as chaperones will be given the same opportunities to experience all the education and networking activities listed as well as make connections with other floral educators who can offer support to their teaching efforts.

July 4 – July 8, 2022   * Harrah’s Hotel & Casino (sleeping rooms) & Caesars Forum (Symposium)

The ability to hold the 2022 AIFD® FFA initiative is contingent upon the ability for AIFD® to host its 2022 Symposium in Las Vegas, NV. While AIFD anticipates being able to hold its 2022 Symposium at normal capacity, should gathering restrictions be in place, AIFD® may not be able to honor FFA scholarships awarded for 2022. Should AIFD® be unable to host the 2021 FFA event due to Covid-19 complications, you will be contacted as soon as possible, and additional options will be presented at that time.

By inviting FFA Student Members and Instructors to participate and witness the extraordinary dynamics of the AIFD® Symposium we hope to encourage future growth in floral education, help students gain knowledge about floral related businesses, and create mentorships with AIFD® members.

“It was a pleasure meeting you at the AIFD® National Convention in Washington, D.C.  Thank you so much for your support of the FFA and our Chapter – this trip wouldn’t have been possible without you. We plan to take the skills we’ve learned and begin building our own floral shop at our school!” – The Southern Alamance FFA Chapter

“Thank you so much for your support and sponsorship of Cambridge FFA.  Travelling to Washington, D.C. and having the opportunity to attend the AIFD® Symposium was truly a life changing event.  The variety and beauty of the flowers was inspiring and the people who arranged them were even more so.  We felt so welcome and were so humbled by everyone we met and everything we saw and experienced.  Many Florists would say to me, ‘You are our future.’ To hear this encouragement and belief in me personally really made me want to become a florist.” – Grace Ertel, Cambridge FFA Floral

“Thank you so much for sponsoring the 2018 National FFA Floriculture CDE. This contest has opened my eyes up to many jobs that I could pursue in my future. My teammates and I have spent many hours preparing for this and are proud to represent our state. It means so much to have supporters like you willing to invest in FFA members like myself. Thank you again for everything you do for us.” – Kaylee Abney, Owensville High School

“Thank you for judging our National Floriculture Competition. We apprecaite your time and dedication to the FFA. Also, I was one of the teams that got to go to D.C. for the AIFD® Symposium – what an amazing experience! I enjoyed meeting you and your colleagues.” – Hannah Clanton, North Carolina

“Thank you for taking time to judge the 2018 National Floriculture CDE. My team is here for the first time and can tell how thoughtful and prepared every official is! I know this event would not be possible without volunteers like you! The competition is much more fun knowing the judges have an appreciation for FFA, enough to volunteer! Thank you so much.” – Emma Filipiak, Hudson High School

“Thank you for your contributions to the Floriculture CDE. I have gained so much knowledge of the floral industry this past year. My team and I are very grateful to be here.  Thank you again for everything.” – Hattie Harris, Louisburg FFA
