Frequently Asked Questions
What does “unpublished work” mean?
Unpublished work means that it has not been published in a book or magazine. Social Media publishing is fine.
What is the deadline to submit?
The submission deadline is October 27, 2019.
Can a submission extension be requested?
No. Extensions will not be granted. The deadline (10/27/19) is firm.
Who can submit an entry?
AIFD®/Accredited members.
Do you have to submit in all categories or can you pick one?
You may submit in as many or as few categories as you like.
What do you mean by a portfolio of my work that includes 5-10 floral pieces? Does that mean for each category (Botanical art, floral couture and Life’s moment) I need to submit 5-10 different designs ?
A portfolio is a collection of 5 -10 photos of multiple floral designs. This can be 5 to 10 designs that may have multiple photos of a single design (for example to show close up of technique, different positioning, environmental shot and/or technique shot) but you should have high res photos of several designs that can be categorized in a single category or multiple categories. It is possible that a single design could have great Elements and Principles and be Floral Couture, so both may be mentioned but it will be categorized for ONE (1) of the three key floral themes. We ask you as the designer to share your recommendation on which category you believe each photo is most appropriate for. When the jury scores each of your designs they may recommend the category they feel it best fits as well. You do not have to submit 5 – 10 photos for each category but of course that is an option for each individual should they so choose.
Can the photo have other items in the framing as part of a set-up?
Yes, a “set up“ is allowed.
What resolution quality is required for the photos? Would photos from a phone be accepted?
As long as the resolution quality is 300 DPI then pictures taken from any device will be accepted.
