Classes are held from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Designing for Competition and Evaluation was created specifically for successful and experienced floral designer who is seeking to challenge themselves, sharpen their skills, grow to a higher level as floral designer and receive recognition for their design skills. This professional flower arranging course is a pathway for designers planning to take the AIFD Professional Floral Design Evaluation (PFDE).
Floral Designing in competition is a bit like running a marathon. Anyone who is in reasonable physical condition can run. But, to successfully run a full marathon requires explicit training and practice. Trying to run a marathon without preparation can be a discouraging and bitter experience. Designing for Competition and Evaluation is your training program. It will not guarantee that you will “win the race”, but this program will fully prepare you to “run a good race”.
AIFD-accredited designers, Leanne Kesler, David Kesler, and Michelle Headrick will be your instructors and trainers as your prepare to achieve your personal goals. During this intensive three-day professional flower arranging course, you will study contemporary and classic arrangements, wedding designs, body flowers, sympathy flowers, and design duplication. You will receive advanced instruction in floral design theory and mechanics with a focus on designing for a judge. Your skills will be individually critiqued and accessed. Complete mock testing and evaluation are included on the final day of the course. On completion of the course, you will be given a recommended training plan and the Floral Design Institute Instructors will continue to work with you via email for up to one full year and/or twelve photo evaluations of your design work.
Please note that this is an advanced program. You must have a minimum of 500 hours of floral design experience or have successfully completed the Floral Design Institute, 120-hour Basic Floral Design Program.
