AIFD Celebrates Another Successful Symposium
“Caliente”
Miami, Fla.
July 12-16, 2012

Everything in Miami is hot in July, but after the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) took over the city, it was “Caliente!” Over 700 floral design artists from around the world gathered for hot designs, hot events and hot inspiration from July 12-16, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Miami Hotel.

“Caliente” was an action-packed educational extravaganza that included dynamic stage presentations from renowned floral design artists from the U.S., Finland, and the Netherlands, among others, as well as elaborate decor for three lunches and two celebratory dinners.

“The Symposium was an incredible success this year,” exclaimed AIFD’s new President, Ann Jordan AIFD, AAF of Naples, Maine. “From the educational programs to the receptions to the opportunities to network with one another, ‘Caliente’ gave each person an opportunity to open his/her eyes to new ideas and possibilities within the floral design industry.”

AIFD Announces 2012 PFDE Results

Sixty-two of the 71 candidates were successful in their bid to become a Certified Floral Designer (CFD®) as bestowed by the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), it was announced by Ann Jordan AIFD, CFD, president of the Institute.

Ann Jordan AIFD, CFD Named President of American Institute of Floral Designers

Ann Jordan AIFD, CFD of Ann Jordan Design Consulting in Naples, Maine was installed as president of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) during the organization’s 2012 National Symposium held in Miami, July 12-16. She succeeds Tom Bowling AIFD, CFD, PFCI of Fairfield, Ohio, as the volunteer leader of the floral industry’s leading organization in design education.

City College of San Francisco Students Sweep AIFD Student Design Competition

Three City College of San Francisco students made their mark at the American Institute of Floral Designers’ (AIFD) 2012 Student Floral Design Competition that was held as part of AIFD’s 2012 National Symposium held in Miami July 12-16. The three students who were part of the college design team brought home a total of eight awards.
