“Transition Transformation”
and Celebrated Another
Successful Symposium

Excitement and creativity were blowing in the “Windy City” when the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) and floral designers from around the world took over Chicago. Over 850 floral design artists converged in Chicago to see creative designs, entertaining events and inspiration like none other from July 3-7, 2014 at the Hilton Chicago.

 

AIFD Announces 2014 PFDE Results

All of the 143 candidates that tested as part of AIFD’s Professional Floral Design Evaluation (PFDE) program were successful in their bid to become a Certified Floral Designer (CFD®) as bestowed by the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), it was announced by Tim Farrell AIFD, CFD, AAF, PFCI, president of the Institute.

Of the 143 professionals, 50 designers earned their CFD credentials in Chicago and 24 designers maintained their CFD credentials. Sixty nine professionals created artistic designs that were so excellent in presentation that they have been invited to become a member of AIFD and they will be inducted during ceremonies at the 2015 AIFD National Symposium “Journey” taking place in Denver, Colo., June 30-July 4.

Tim Farrell AIFD, CFD, AAF, PFCI Named President of AIFD

Tim Farrell AIFD, CFD, AAF, PFCI of Farrell’s Florist in Drexel Hill, Pa. was installed as president of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) during the organization’s 2014 National Symposium held in Chicago, July 3-7. He succeeds John Kittinger AIFD, CFD of The Best of Flowers in Lexington, Ky., as the volunteer leader of the floral industry’s leading organization in design education.

City College of San Francisco Students Sweep AIFD Student Design Competition

City College of San Francisco students made their mark at AIFD’s 2014 Student Floral Design Competition that was held as part of AIFD’s 2014 National Symposium held in Chicago July 3-7. Four students who were part of the college design team brought home a total of nine awards in the competitions four categories: Arrangement, Body Flowers, Wedding and Sympathy.
