2021 Creative Flair Design Techniques & Tips Video Contest

AIFD® National Education Committee Presents:

 

OFFICIAL RULES

‘Creative Flair’ as defined for use in this contest is:

 The action of applying a style, technique or design material that:

1. Demonstrates expertise in the application of the elements and principles of design;
2. Inspires the imagination, originality or inventiveness of the design to the viewer;
3. Influences the ability to elevate a design to a high standard.

 

Eligibility

Contest is open to all accredited AIFD® members and Certified Floral Designers of the American Institute of Floral Designers® in good standing. One entry per contestant.

 

Entry Period

‘Creative Flair Design Techniques & Tips Video Contest’  Entry period begins on February 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, and ends March 19, 2021 at 11:59 pm EDT.

 

How to Enter

• Videos must be submitted naming the design technique or tip that is going to be demonstrated or highlighted. Contestant may use fresh florals, foliage with other materials.
• A finished design composition is permitted, but not required to be part of the video, i.e. the entry may be a design technique/tip  used in a design and not an actual finished design.
• The Design Application section of The AIFD® Guide to Floral Design contains definitions that should be used to describe the design technique used in the video.

 

An Entry Fee of $25.00 is payable online to AIFD®;  after payment is made, you will then be redirected to the AIFD® Dropbox to submit your recorded video.  Once submitted, the video entry cannot be cancelled and is non-refundable.

 

Video Submission Requirements

• The video must be submitted in .mp4 format, preference given to videos 3-5 minutes in length; videos over 8 minutes in length will not be considered for prizes.
• (There are free online conversion services such as https://convert-video-online.com/  that convert files free of charge and without downloading software).
• The video must be submitted with the following syntax: ‘Name of Sender – Video Title’
• Videos may be submitted in languages other than English and AIFD® encourages all members to participate. Non-English submissions will be translated for judging by the AIFD® Membership Committee’s international team.
• Do not make the video a commercial for a specific company…try to keep video as neutral as possible.
• The Host is not responsible for late or misdirected entries involved when submitting videos.
• All video entries must be keeping with the Code of Ethics of AIFD®.
• Videos submitted for this contest may not be posted to social media until after the announcement of the winners.  Unauthorized early posting will be cause for disqualification.
• Hashtags of #AIFDcreativeflair and #proudtobeAIFD will be required for posting videos on social media after winners are announced.

Property of Host

By entering this contest, the contestant grants the Host the right to reproduce, modify, or publish his/her entry, and become the property of the Host. AIFD® will retain the right to all submitted videos.

 

Review by a Panel of Judges

Judging/evaluation of submitted videos will be performed by the AIFD® National Education Committee with the decision of the judges final.

The Top 10 videos will be notified by email on March 31, 2021; and then announced on social media.

The Top 3 Winners will be notified by email on April 9, 2021; and then announced on social media.

The Top 10 videos will also have the honor of being posted on the AIFD® Website under Education in the floral library. Honorable mentions may also be included in the floral library.

 

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the First, Second and Third place winners.

 

First Place   Winner will receive:

• $300 (USD) Cash Prize from AIFD® National Education
• Two VIP Seats for the 2022 Symposium in front reserved seating area (Symposium General or Premium registration required)
• One copy of the AIFD® Book – Artistic Floral Design
• Certificate of Merit

 

Second Place  

• $200 (USD) Cash Prize from AIFD® National Education
• One copy of the AIFD® Book – Artistic Floral Design
• Certificate of Merit

 

Third Place

• $100 (USD) Cash Prize from AIFD® National Education
• One copy of the AIFD® Book – Artistic Floral Design
• Certificate of Merit

 

General Conditions

A potential winner not in compliance with the official contest rules may be disqualified, the prize forfeited, and an alternate potential winner may be selected and notified.  Any disputes of claims in connection with this contest shall be resolved on an individual basis with the AIFD® National Education Committee.
