AIFD Seeks Symposium Liaison
AIFD is considering the creation of a new volunteer position that could prove to be a valuable help to the organization and the success of its National Symposium. To be eligible to fill this new position – Symposium Liaison – a member must have been a 1) past symposium coordinator, 2) past symposium program coordinator, or c) past president. If you meet one of these criteria and are interested in being considered for possible appointment, please send a brief statement of your desire to AIFD’s Vice President Tim Farrell at farrelltim@aol.com by May 15, 2013.
The following is a partial list of the many tasks and responsibilities that would be overseen by the Symposium Liaison. The appointment is for a three-year term.
Symposium Coordinators – Aid the Coordinators and act as a constant adviser, be the official contact and liaison to headquarters and act as a constant adviser, oversee the development of the designer/ presenter’s packet and committee packets, create a “before you agree to present at Symposium” packet for presenters, and review Symposium Manual with Coordinators.
Symposium Committee – Serve on the Symposium Committee and attend its Summer and Fall meetings; aid the Vice President who is the Symposium Committee Chair, with VP, Executive Director and Coordinators; create and oversee checks and balances spread-sheet with a completion time frame; keep a file (electronic) of Symposium history (Income Statement, budgets, attendance, close-out report, surveys, partners and contributors and donations, hotel contracts).
Executive Director – Work with Executive Director in the general direction of Symposium and assist, when needed, with contracts and site inspection.
Symposium Manual – Oversee the Symposium Manual advise revisions and additions, keep the Symposium Manual in order and present it to the incoming Coordinators& Vice President- make available to the Symposium Committee.
Presenters – Review contract with presenters and assist in follow-up where necessary.
