Designing for Competition and Evaluation was created specifically for the successful and experienced floral designer who is seeking to challenge themselves, sharpen their skills, grow to a higher level as a floral designer and receive recognition for their design skills. This program is a pathway for designers planning to take the AIFD Professional Floral Design Evaluation (PFDE).

Floral Designing in competition is a bit like running a marathon. Anyone who is in reasonable physical condition can run. But, to successfully run a full marathon requires explicit training and practice. Trying to run a marathon without preparation can be a discouraging and bitter experience. Designing for Competition and Evaluation is your training program. It will not guarantee that you will “win the race”, but this program will fully prepare you to “run a good race”.

AIFD accredited designers, Leanne Kesler, David Kesler, Marisa Perring and Michelle Headrick will be your instructors and trainers as you prepare to achieve your personal goals. During this intensive three-day course, you will study contemporary and classic arrangements, wedding designs, body flowers, sympathy flowers and design duplication. You will receive advanced instruction in floral design theory and mechanics with a focus on designing for a judge. Your skills will be individually critiqued and accessed. A complete mock testing and evaluation is included on the final day of the course. On completion of the course you will be given a recommended training plan. Leanne and the Tulip Team will continue to work with you via email for up to one full year and / or twelve photo evaluations of your design work.

Please note that this is an advanced program. You must have a minimum of 500 hours of floral design experience or have successfully completed the Floral Design Institute, 120 hour Basic Floral Design Program. Classes are held 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
