“Journey” – a fitting representation of the legacy of the past creative artists, the current members and an eye toward the future members of the organization.
2015 Symposium Coordinator Marie Ackerman AIFD, CFD and Program Chair Vonda LaFever AIFD, CFD are excited to present the 2015 National Symposium. “Every AIFD member’s journey is different” said Ackerman, “and that’s the beauty of coming together each year and sharing techniques, best practices and inspiring ideas” she added.
The logo created from boldly colored letters (that spell JOURNEY) create a roadmap background – and highlight how each designer’s path is unique – and yet alters in color when it intersects with another.

The AIFD 2015 National Symposium “Journey” will take place at the Sheraton Denver Downtown. AIFD has a limited number of rooms awaiting you at special rates, available on an exclusive basis.

Fitz Design Body Wear Contest
It’s easy! It’s fun! And, you can win a FREE General registration to AIFD’s 2016 National Symposium “Inspiration” in Orange County, Calif., July 3-7, 2016. A prize will be awarded in both the mens and ladies floral adornment categories. Here is how it works: Your floral creation can be made earlier and brought with you to Symposium to be finished on-site or it can be created from scratch in Denver. Fitz Design items are available at the Body Bar Buffet which opens on Saturday, July 4 at 2 p.m. in the Plaza Foyer outside Plaza A where your contributions help support AIFD’s numerous student chapters. All personal body flowers need to feature AT LEAST one Fitz Design item but may include more than one. Other accessories and flowers may be incorporated to accent and complete the entry, however, your Fitz Design selection(s) should be noticeable.
All entries must be photographed by the AIFD designated photographer prior to the Leadership Gala Dinner on July 4. Our photographer will be located in the Foyer outside of the Grand Ballroom (where the Leadership Gala is taking place) from 5:45 – 7 p.m. You MUST bring a completed entry form with you and present it to the AIFD staff member when having your picture taken.
A panel of distinguished AIFD designers and Fitz Design representatives will review all entries. Ten entries in each category (male/female) will be selected and then put online for all AIFD members and Symposium registrants to vote for. A winner will be announced in early September.
PLEASE NOTE: Soliciting votes is strictly prohibited. Only AIFD members and Symposium attendees are eligible to vote. Anyone caught soliciting votes will be immediately disqualified.

Travel Information
The Denver International Airport is located a good distance from the city’s downtown. If you’re taking a cab (approx. $65 with tip) it might be best to arrange to do so with another Symposium attendee.
There are three other options that can save you a few dollars:
- Super Shuttle – Normally $22 (one way) but AIFD has arranged a $6 discount on round-trip fares. For details please click here.
- Uber – if you haven’t used Uber before, you can use the special AIFD code “uberAIFD” when downloading the app to your phone and save $20 off your first round-trip ride using the UberX option. A car can hold 2-3 people with baggage, depending on size of bags.
- RTD metro bus service – RTD’s SkyRide (AF route) leaves DIA from the West side of the Terminal (Level 5 – Island 5, across from door #506) and takes you to Union Station, appox. 45 min. From there, transfer to the free shuttle that takes you down the 16th St. Mall to the front door of the Sheraton (cost is only $11.)

Calling all Energetic, Hardworking, and Creative Designers! We need your time, expertise and talent!
Have you ever wondered what it takes to make all that MAGIC happen at Symposium? Are you a “Work Room Veteran” ready to jump right back into the fray?
We are inviting you to apply for a volunteer position at this year’s “Journey” Symposium in Denver, Colorado. As the 2015 Volunteer Coordinators, we are excited about providing a fabulous volunteer experience for each of you! We will need volunteers beginning on June 28th through July 6th in order to make all the magic happen! As we can attest from personal experience, the AIFD symposium can be life changing for designers; providing inspiration, instilling unparalleled education, and building professional relationships that alter careers. Please consider helping us make 2015 one of the best symposium’s ever!

Symposium Attire
Proper attire for most Symposium programs is “comfortable business casual.” There are several events, however, where other clothing is more appropriate. Suggested attire for the Awards/Induction Dinner (July 2) is cocktail dress and coat & tie (wear gold, red, or fuchsia, if you’ve got it). Suggested attire for the elegant Leadership Gala (July 4) is black-tie or evening gown.
Photography Policy
Photography and videotaping of any kind are not permitted by audience members during any of the main stage presentations. Please be aware you will see an AIFD headquarters staff member who will be taking photos throughout the programs. These photos will be shared with attendees on the AIFD website and Facebook pages. There will also be several members from the press who have been given special permission from AIFD to take photos during the programs. There will be an allotted time directly after each presentation for audience members to have photo and video opportunities.
